How To Hem Kids Pants

How To Hem Kids Pants

This week the theme on Project Run and Play is your Signature Style… since I have two boys I mostly sew for them. To sum up my signature style I would call it ALL BOY… What's more boy that flannel, corduroy and Batman? I will be linking this post up to the sew a long this week.

 And when Batman wants to go out in disguise, he wears normal clothes… Boy clothes!!

This was my first button up shirt… although technically I used snaps because I strongly dislike making button holes… and I got these awesome snaps from I love Buttons… I've made a few collar shirts..and even a collar tutorial…. For my first collared button up I used two great PeekaBoo Pattern Shop Patterns…the Classic Oxford and the Classic Chinos {affiliate links}

 The pants are made with a thin corduroy and the top seems like a cross between flannel and cotton… I got it at a market, so I'm not really sure… They are perfect fabrics for fall because they aren't too thick.. This pattern comes with a great welt pocket option, but these aren't dressy pants.. so I just put on square pockets and added a my label coming out the side.. The front pockets are a basic slanted front pocket.

And because I sew for boys… They grow like weeds and its hard to keep up! I sewed these pants with this in mind. I'm sharing this graphic today on Hemming With Room to Grow!

1. Cut an extra 4+ inches when cutting your pants pattern.

2.  Finish the edge with a serger or a 1/4 inch fold over.

3. fold over a 1/2 inch hem and press.

4. Fold again to the desired length and sew.

5. You can fold up as a cuff or wear as a normal hem. When those legs grow, let out that nice long hem!

 Its hard to be a boy… Even with bribery… photoshoots with this one are hard!

I let him keep the Batman shirt on under… I think it adds strength to my All Boy concept!

No post would be complete without some great outtakes… I love this boy!
