I often find that it can be challenging to really see a paint's undertones until I put it side by side with other similar colors. Here's how Sherwin Williams Silver Strand stacks up against four other popular paint colors.

Sherwin Williams Silver Strand vs SW Sea Salt

First up…Sherwin Williams Sea Salt. These colors look similar when you put them side by side, but Sherwin Williams puts Silver Strand in the gray family and Sea Salt in the green family. They both lean neutral and cool.

With an LRV of 63, Sea Salt is a bit lighter than Silver Strand's LRV of 59. The gray/green combo is enticing, and since both colors contain levels of gray, they both exude a calming, serene vibe to your room.

Next let's discuss Sherwin Williams Silverpointe. With an LRV of 64, Silverpointe is lighter than Silver Strand but reads less green and more neutral.

One last color to discuss before we move on…Repose Gray is one of Sherwin Williams' most popular paint shades, period.

Compared to Silver Strand, Repose Gray with an LRV of 58 is almost identical in terms of how dark it is, but that's where the similarities stop. Whereas Repose Gray has warm, greige undertones, Silver Strand has cooler green-blue hues.

Repose Gray says "cozy" while Silver Strand says "cool". While both colors are in the "gray" family, they are quite different tones.

Maggie Lena Walker (July 15, 1867-December 15, 1934) was the first woman in the USA to become a local bank president.

Maggie Mitchell was born in Richmond, Virginia, to former slaves; her father was murdered when she was a child. In 1886, Maggie married Armstead Walker, Jr., a building contractor; they had three children (two of whom survived). She worked first as a teacher, and then as an agent for the Woman's Union Insurance Company. Maggie quickly rose to become the executive secretary/treasurer of the company (which was then called the Independent Order of St. Luke). She also founded a newspaper called the St. Luke Herald (in 1902).

In 1903, Maggie Lena Walker started the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank and was its president. In 1929, at the start of the economic depression, her bank bought all the local black-owned banks in town and renamed itself the Consolidated Bank and Trust Company.

Throughout her life, Walker worked for civil rights and other humanitarian causes, including co-founding the Richmond branch of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and supporting the Virginia Industrial School for Colored Girls. Walker's house, at 110 1/2 East Leigh Street, Richmond, Virginia, is designated as an official Historic Site.
